Cougars Sweep For Sixth Straight on Sophomore Night
Canyons (12-10, 10-2) defeated Antelope Valley College in straight sets at the Cougar Cage on Friday.

No. 25 College of the Canyons won its sixth consecutive match with a third straight sweep, this time taking down Antelope Valley College on 'Sophomore Night' at the Cougar Cage. Set scores were 25-9, 25-11, 25-14.
Canyons (12-10, 10-2) made quick work of the Marauders (7-11, 4-8) in a match that lasted less than 90 minutes.
Prior to first serve COC honored its five sophomores — Tyler Dobrowsky, Breanna Kelley, Cecillia Giovannini, Caitlin Liebe and Damani Harvey — for their many contributions to the program.
Liebe made the most of the night, finishing the game with a game-high 10 kills on 15 swings.
Dowbrowsky was next with nine kills, eight digs and two assists across three sets.
Kelley and Harvey both finished the game with five kills. Harvey also added an ace, five digs and two block assists.
Giovannini led the way with 23 assists and an ace. Brianna Botello finished with five kills and Sabrina Sveiven had a team-high 10 kills.
As a team, Canyons hit .434 for the match with five aces. The Cougars also recorded 42 digs.
COC will finish the regular season with a Western State Conference (WSC) Crossover match vs. Ventura College at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
