Bio

Katie Rutecki begins her second season as an assistant coach with the College of the Canyons women’s volleyball program.

Rutecki starred for the Lady Cougars (2014-2015) in the opening act of collegiate career that eventually led her to a stellar two-year run at Montana State University (2016-2017). 

Prior to that, she prepped at John Burroughs High School where she earned both First and Second-Team All-Pacific League accolades as a setter and right-side hitter. In addition, she was a scholar athlete recipient.

During her sophomore season at Canyons, Rutecki finished the season with 10.87 assists per set to rank first in the state. Her season stat line also included 78 aces and 91 kills. Under her leadership at the setting position, the Cougars posted a 26-4 overall record, remained undefeated in conference play, and advanced to the 3C2A Women’s Volleyball State Championship Tournament. 

She also earned All-Western State Conference, South Division First-Team honors and was a 3C2A All-Southern California Regional team selection before receiving a full scholarship to play NCAA Division I volleyball at Montana State.

As a junior, Rutecki played in all 91 sets for the Bobcats and averaged a team-high 5.87 assists per contest in MSU's 6-2 offense. She finished with double-digit assist totals in 23 of 25 matches, while posting a season-high 45 assists in MSU's season-ending five-set loss at Idaho. She also recorded four double-doubles on the season and notched a season-best 14 digs in MSU's 3-2 win over Weber State. Rutecki finished with 19 aces which ranked second on the squad and was an All-Big Sky Conference Academic selection.

In the final month of her senior year at MSU, Rutecki recorded season highs for a single match with 60 assists, 17 digs, four kills, three blocks and two aces. She would eventually finisher her career as a Bobcat with 1,084 assists, 267 digs, 46 kills, 15 blocks and 28 aces.
