College of the Canyons saw all six runners place in the top-15, with freshman Danielle Salcedo winning the event outright for the second consecutive week, as the Cougars cruised to victory at the Canyons Invitational on Friday.

Salcedo was all alone when she crossed the finish line, clocking in with a time of 18:58.09 on the 5K course which wrapped through the college's Valencia campus and surrounding hillsides before ending in Cougar Stadium. The freshman, out of Saugus High School, was more than 1:45 faster than the second place finisher.

Freshman Jennifer Thompson, also a Saugus graduate, was next for Canyons with a pace of 21:23.09 to take third overall. That time was followed closely by Milca Osorio in fourth place, with the Canyon grad just a couple steps behind her teammate at 21:26.69.

Sophomore Sarah Zamudio turned in another strong run, taking seventh at a time of 22:04.12.

Freshman Maylani Perez rounded out the contingent of Centurions turned Cougars, finishing 13th in the field of 26 after completing the course in 24:15.84.

West Ranch product Trinity Winslow took 15th in the event at 24:45.69, claiming the final medal spot.

Canyons finished with 18 event points to edge runner-up Long Beach City College (40).

The Cougars will next run at the annual Oxnard College Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11.
