New Rankings — Women's Cross Country Checks in at No. 7 in State
The Cougars’ women’s program also checked in as the No. 6 ranked team in the Southern California region.

Having finished no worse than second at any meet this year, College of the Canyons women's cross country has earned the No. 7 state ranking in the most recent California Community College Cross Country and Track Coaches Association (5CTCA) poll.
The Cougars' women's program also checked in as the No. 6 ranked team in the Southern California region.

Canyons is one of five Western State Conference (WSC) programs included in the state rankings, released on Oct. 4.
Glendale College is the top-ranked WSC program at No. 3. Cuesta, Moorpark and Bakersfield College slot in at No. 11, 12 and 13, respectively.
Hartnell College and Mt. San Antonio College currently share the state's No. 1 ranking. Hartnell is one of four Northern California schools to appear in the state's Top-14 rankings.
COC most recently competed at the WSC Preview meet on Oct. 1, running to a second-place team finish behind freshman Danielle Salcedo's winning time.
Salcedo has now won all four community college races she has entered this season, in addition to finishing eighth at The Master's University Invitational. That meet attracted a field of primarily NAIA athletes.
Canyons will next compete at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational on Friday, Oct. 15. The WSC Championship meet follows on Friday, Oct. 22, at Legg Lake Recreational Area.
