Bio

Lindie Kane begins her 19th season as the head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country program and head coach of track and field at College of the Canyons.

During her cross country tenure, Kane has coached more than 50 All-Western State Conference athletes, 10 All-Southern California honorees, three All-State runners and three JC All-Americans. Along with the many accolades, she has helped at least one individual qualify for the state Cross Country Championship Meet every year. The men’s cross country team made its first appearance, since 1970, at the state meet in 2006 and the women have appeared at the same competition in 2000, 2001 and 2006 under the leadership of Kane. In 2007 Kane had her first athlete to finish as runner-up in the state championships when Alfredo Coronado came in seconds behind the top runner.

In the past 12 years as head coach of Cougar track and field, Kane has built the program into one of the best in the state. She has coached 17 JC All-Americans and produced 18 women’s school records and nine men’s school records. She has led four individuals to state championships and most recently, helped Tim White win a U.S. Junior National Outdoor Track and Field Championship, a first for the program.

Kane was named the California Community College State Coach of the year for men's track and field in 2007, the conference coach of the year for men's track and field and the men's cross country conference coach of the year.

In 2004, the women saw its best year with Kane leading the way. The squad finished in second place in the Western State, fifth in Southern California and eighth in the state. 2007 was the best year for the men's team when they finished second in conference, fifth in Southern California, a school best, and 11th at the State Meet.

A 1992 graduate of California State University, Northridge, Kane was a member of the cross country and track and field team at CSUN, under the direction of four-time Big West Conference Coach of the Year Don Strametz. She earned her bachelor’s of art in physical education in 1992 and completed her master’s of art in education at Azusa Pacific. Kane also holds a California Secondary Single Subject Teaching Credential from CSUN and is a certified United States of America Track and Field Level II Coach.

Kane shares her passion for athletics with her husband Mike, who is a COC football coach, and their two sons, Doyle and Mikey. Kane and her family reside in Valencia.
