
Canyons Baseball Completes Sweep of West L.A.

College of the Canyons muscled through the final game of its series vs. West L.A. College producing a 9-8 victory on Saturday at Cougar Field.
The back-and-forth ball game had five different Cougars (14-13, 8-4) produce home runs, Mikey Kane among them claiming his third in three games and seventh this season.
West L.A. (5-21, 2-10) was first to put up runs in the second inning, creating a 2-0 ball game.
COC freshman Ryan Camacho got the ball rolling for the Cougars' offense in the third inning after hitting a solo home run. Kane was next to send the ball over the fence in the fifth, giving Canyons the lead 4-2.
COC freshman Kyle Cop lead the Cougars through six and 1/3 innings producing six strikeouts, three walks and giving up four runs on seven hits. The ball was briefly handed to Scott Bauman through the seventh, and then onto Josh Yosfan for an inning.
In the seventh, West L.A. managed to push a couple runs through taking the lead back, but COC's DJ Kougher and Andy Ambriz answered right away with back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning.\
Yosfan carried the Cougars into the ninth inning, giving up three runs and striking out two batters before handing the ball to Xavier Stoker to close out the game.
The Cougars entered the bottom of the ninth with a two-run deficit. Jovan Camacho lifted off on the fifth and final home run of the day, to make it an 8-7 ballgame.
With bases loaded Ryan Camacho was able to draw a walk that brought in the tying run.
Doyle Kane snatched the win when he came home to score off a wild pitch resulting in a 9-8 final score for the Cougars.

Upcoming Schedule
The Cougars are set to open up a three-game series with conference-leading Glendale College at Cougar Field on Tuesday, April 5 at 2:30 p.m. They will continue with the second game at Glendale on Thursday, April 7, and then conclude the series at home on Friday, April 8.
