Canyons Baseball Wins Fourth Straight, 11-5 Over Allan Hancock

By Jesse Muñoz/COC Sports Information Director

College of the Canyons posted a 10-run second inning and then rode the arm of sophomore hurler Gavino Rosales to get an 11-5 home win over Allan Hancock College on Saturday at Cougar Field.

Canyons (5-2) has now won four straight games with two of those coming vs. familiar foe Allan Hancock College (4-4). The Cougars are batting .291 with 54 runs scored through seven games. COC has scored at least eight runs in every victory this season.

On Saturday, the Cougs plated nine runs on eight hits and an AHC error for a big second inning rally that saw the Cougars bring 14 batters to the plate. The Bulldogs' defense did no favors for Allan Hancock starter Bradley Waite (1-1) who took the loss after two innings of work.

Meanwhile, Rosales (2-0) was brilliant in his seven innings on the hill, scattering five hits and issuing a walk to go alongside seven strikeouts.

The Cougars added a final run in support of Rosales on a solo home run from Andy Ambriz in the sixth inning that made it an 11-0 game.

Allan Hancock battled back in the eighth with five runs off the Cougar bullpen. COC sophomore Xavier Stoker was eventually able to get out of the inning but not before Allan Hancock did its damage. Four of the AHC runs were unearned after a costly two-out error gave live to the Bulldogs' rally.

Five members of the Cougars lineup recorded two hits with every starter scoring at least one run.
