No. 2 Canyons to Host No. 5 Ventura on Saturday

College of the Canyons will host its fourth home game of the 2018 season as the Cougars square off vs. Ventura College at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Cougar Stadium.
Canyons is 7-0 on the year and will enter as the No. 2 ranked team in the state, according to the California Community College Sports Information Association Poll. The Pirates enter with a record of 6-1 and are currently ranked No. 5 in the state.
COC returns to action after a 31-9 home victory over East L.A. College in week seven that saw the Cougars extend their win streak to 12 games, dating back to week seven of the 2017 season.
Head Coach Ted Iacenda's team continues to boast the top ranked defense in the state having held opponents to an average of just 7.3 points per game. The Cougars are also allowing opponents just over 224 yards of total offense per game, good for the state's second-best mark.
Canyons is 7-0 for the first time since 2008 and the fifth time since COC reinstated its football program in 1998.
Ventura posted a 62-7 home victory over Moorpark College in week seven, for its second win in as many weeks. The Pirates' lone loss came in a week five road tilt vs. Fullerton College.
This week all fans wearing a Halloween costume are invited to attend Saturday's game free of charge (costume must be family friendly).
General admission tickets to all Cougar football games are $10. Kids 10 and under are free.
