Canyons Heads to Postseason, Will Face L.A. Harbor on Wednesday
The No. 20 seed College of the Canyons men's basketball team will tip-off vs. No. 14 seed L.A. Harbor College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, in opening action of the 2015 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional.
The Cougars (15-12, 7-7) finished the season fourth in the Western State Conference (WSC), South. Most recently, Canyons knocked off Citrus College (the tournament's No. 10 seed) 79-72 in Saturday's regular season finale.
L.A. Harbor (15-10, 4-4) finished second place in the South Coast Conference, South division. The Seahawks concluded the regular season with a 57-53 road win over El Camino.
The winner of Wednesday's match-up will move on to face No. 3 San Bernardino Valley College (29-2, 10-0), winners of the Foothill Conference championship.
That contest is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.
Head coach Howard Fisher and the Cougars received more good news on Monday, as it was announced that sophomore guard Coley Apsay (17.0 points, 4.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game) and sophomore forward Tullio Parry (11.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game) were both named First Team All-WSC South honorees.
