On Thursday, Canyons (1-1) suffered an 88-74 loss to East L.A. which had entered the tournament with a pre-season No. 2 state ranking in the California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA) pre-season poll.

COC had two players score in double digits including freshman Zach Phipps who finished with 17 points on a 7-of-14 shooting night. Sophomore Jude Agbasi was next with a 14-point performance to go with three rebounds and two steals.

Leonard Wilson and Igor Mpoual Mpoual both had seven points off the bench to lead the reserve unit.

The Cougars trailed 49-34 at the break and battled back to cut the ELAC lead to seven points midway through the second half, but ultimately could get no closer.

On day two, the Cougars squared off vs. Oxnard College (0-2) and were able to walk away with an 82-70 win.

Canyons took control in the early going and opened up a 53-35 lead behind 18 first half points from Agbasi. The sophomore finished the game 8-of-15 from the field and 13-of-15 from the foul line for a game-high 29 points. He also added seven rebounds, four assists and two steals to his stat line. For his efforts, Agbasi earned an All-Tournament team selection.

Wilson contributed 11 points off the bench followed by Jah-Kez Moore with nine points and three boards.

Oxnard outscored COC by six points in the second half to make things interesting but finished the weekend winless. On day one the Condors lost 88-76 at the hands of Glendale College (1-1).
