No. 27 Canyons is a 76-69 Winner at Pasadena

PASADENA — College of the Canyons built an eight-point lead heading into the halftime locker room then held on for a 76-69 road win over Pasadena City College behind 22 points from freshman Andrew Henderson.
Henderson topped the 20-point plateau for the seventh time this season and fourth in the last three contests. He currently ranks 15th in the state at 19.3 points per game. Henderson's game-high 15 rebounds also matched his season high.
COC freshman Quincy Arms developed a hot hand in the second half to aid the Cougars' cause. Arms finished with 15 points and five rebounds, with 11 points coming down the stretch.
Jimmy Galgano was the only other COC starter to finish in double figures with 12 points, seven rebounds and a pair of blocks on the defensive end.
Canyons (8-4), which led the Lancers by as many 12 in the game, was able to get back on track after a tight 90-86 road loss at West Hills Lemoore on Dec. 15.
On Tuesday, COC crashed the boards to the tune of a 48-35 rebounding advantage over the Lancers. Pasadena (1-13) shot just 50 percent from the foul line compared to a mark of better than 71 percent from the Cougars. The Lancers also benefited from 24 COC turnovers.
PCC starter Devan Ford finished with a game-high 26 points to go with seven rebounds. Jordan Flowers and Brandon Torimaru both finished with 15 points for the Lancers.
The Cougars are currently ranked No. 27 in the state according to the most recent CCCMBCA poll released on Dec. 21.
Canyons will now head into the holiday break before hosting the 31st Annual Cougar Holiday Classic Dec. 28-29 at the Cougar Cage.
COC and L.A. Trade Tech will begin the action with a 2 p.m. tip on Tuesday, Dec. 28.
The two-day, four-team tournament will also include Mt. San Antonio and Orange Coast College squaring off at 4 p.m. in day one action.
