Canyons Takes Streak to Four, 78-64 Over LAVC

College of the Canyons won its fourth straight conference game 78-64 over visiting L.A. Valley College at the Cougar Cage on Saturday.
Canyons (13-9, 5-5) is now .500 vs. Western State Conference (WSC), South Division opponents and continues to be in the hunt for a postseason berth with four regular season games remaining.
The win vs. LAVC (2-14, 1-4) came behind 28 points from freshman Andrew Henderson which led all scorers. Henderson added seven rebounds and four assists and was 10-of-14 from the floor.
Dillon Barrientos and Cameron McRae both finished with 12 points. Barrientos also led all players with five assists, and added four steals. McRae's scoring all came from long range with the freshman going 4-of-4 from behind the arc.
The Cougars opened up an early advantage while holding the Monarchs to a 36 percent shooting percentage in the opening half.
LAVC played COC much closer down the stretch, drawing to within six points with five minutes to go in the game, before eventually fading away.
Andre Parris led the Monarchs with 19 points. Jonas Holt was next with 13 points. Tim Lofton scored 10 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
COC will next host Glendale College (11-13, 3-7) at the Cougar Cage on Wednesday night. That game is scheduled to tip at 5 p.m.
