Men’s Golf Brings Home Regional Championship
Leading the 10-team field after Monday’s first 18 holes by two strokes at the Southern California Championship at StoneRidge Country Club, the College of the Canyons men’s golf team extended its lead to take a 15-shot victory with a 36-hole total of 4-over-par 723 (364-360).

Taking home individual medalist honors was sophomore Sidney Wolf.
The 2013 state champion team advances to the California Community College Athletic Association Men's Golf State Tournament, along with second-place Riverside City College, on Monday, May 12 at the Victoria Club in Riverside.
Canyons had a two-stroke lead over Orange Coast College (743--366-377) after the first 18 holes, following a 4-over-par 360 performance. Riverside City College (738--372-366) surged ahead of Orange Coast and Glendale College (751--371-380) from fourth place to second place following round two, but did not have enough steam to catch COC who finished at even par in the second round.
The Southern California Championship team win is the first in two years and the third in program history, for the Cougars. The Cougars won the regional championship in 1989 and 2012. Wolf is the first Cougar to win the regional tournament since Riley Marshall won the same event in 2006.
Wolf earned his fourth tournament title after turning in an 8-under-par 136 (68-68). The 36-hole score was one of two under par scores for the competition.
Clayton Chatterley carded the second-best COC score of the afternoon with a 1-over-par 145 (74-71) and Jonas Guriby Dahl tallied a 2-over-par 146 (73-73). Aaron Grimes turned in identical scores of 74 in both rounds to complete the event 4-over, while Edouard Fiszel finished 5-over-149 (75-74). Michael Stewart rounded out the scoring for College of the Canyons with a 74 and 79 for an 11-over-par 153.
