College of the Canyons sophomore Eric Kim carded a three-under par score of 69, as the Cougars cruised to a runaway victory at Western State Conference (WSC) Tourney No. 5 at Antelope Valley Country Club on Monday.
Canyons found its winning way thanks in large part to the play of Kim and sophomore Aussie Noa Yap who shot a one-under mark of 71, despite the blustery conditions of the day.
Noah Bernstein ranked third for the Cougars at 73, while Hamish Houston and Clayton Chatterley each shot a 77.
COC's five-man score of 367 easily outpaced the second-place card of 390 turned in by tourney host Antelope Valley College.
Santa Barbara City College, which had recently emerged as COC's closest conference rival, finished third at 394.
Ventura (399), Allan Hancock (400) and Citrus College (415) rounded out the field.
The victory marks COC's first tournament win since March 2, when Canyons won the two-day Pt. Conception Open in Lompoc.
COC finished second at WSC Tourney No. 4 on March 9, then took third place at last week's SoCal Preview at Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura.
The Cougars remain in first place in the WSC, and will next participate in WSC Tourney No. 6 on March 30, at Santa Maria Country Club.
