Cougars Make it Three Straight with Win in Santa Maria
Canyons had three players in the top-five with Nobuhiko Wakaari (74) and Jack Greene (74) finishing runner-up, and Tom Sims (78) taking fifth place.

SANTA MARIA, Calif. — College of the Canyons won its third conference tourney in as many weeks to move past Santa Barbara City College in the Western State Conference (WSC) standings.
The Cougars turned in a five-player score of 387 to hold off second place Santa Barbara at 389. The two programs started the event tied for the conference top spot with identical 29-3 records. By winning the event COC improved to 37-3 with the Vaqueros in second place at 36-4.
Canyons and SBCC were followed by third place Ventura College (398) and fourth place Bakersfield College (409).
COC freshmen Nobuhiko Wakaari and Jack Greene both shot rounds of 74 to tie for second place in the individual standings.
Tom Sims (78), Jules Lavigne (80) and Anguerrand Voisin (81) also scored for the Cougars. Justin Buenaventura competed, but had his round of 85 scratched from COC's final score.
The Cougars next compete at WSC Antelope Valley on Monday, March 18. That event will begin at 10 a.m. at Antelope Valley Country Club.
