SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons men's soccer team played to a scoreless tie on Friday afternoon against College of the Sequoias at COC's Upper Field. With the tie, COC moved to 0-1-2, while College of the Sequoias moved to 1-0-2.
Canyons was clearly the better team, outshooting Sequoias 19-9, but only had one shot on goal and couldn't get the ball into the back of the net.
Sophomore Tony Barron led the offensive charge with four shots, while freshman Eduardo Ojeda fired off three.
Canyons posted its first shutout of the season as freshman as the defense weathered four shots, including two on goal, from Sequoias. Freshman keeper Steven Rodriguez had two saves in 90 minutes of work.
Canyons will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 10 as they hit the road to take on Taft College at 3 p.m.
