Canyons Men's Soccer Sends Two More Players to Next Level
COC sophomore midfielder Robert Talamantez and sophomore defender Ian Canevari both committed to four-year schools earlier this week.
The College of the Canyons men's soccer program is sending two more players to the next level as sophomore midfielder Robert Talamantez and sophomore defender Ian Canevari have committed to four-year schools this week.
Canevari is heading to McPherson College, in McPherson, Kansas.
The Bulldogs are a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) program competing in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).
In 2015, Canevari played in 14 games for the Cougars while registering five starts. In addition to helping Canyons post nine shutouts in the season, the Valencia High School graduate also registered a goal and an assist.
At McPherson, Canevari will join COC teammate Brian Cano, who also committed to the Bulldogs program earlier this spring. Former COC assistant soccer coach Brooks Walsh, also recently accepted a coaching position at McPherson.
Talamantez will also be heading to Kansas next season, but as a member of the Tabor College Blue Jays located in Hillsboro. Tabor is also an NAIA program that competes in the KCAC.
Talamantez, also a Valencia High School product, played in 13 games for COC in 2015, with four starts. He also played a key role for COC's defensive unit, which held opponents to just 17 goals in 19 games.
With both McPherson and Tabor competing in the same conference, its safe to say that these two former high school and COC teammates will finally have a chance to face each other on the playing field.
