COC's Wong, Hall and Wesselhoff Fare Well At State Championship Meet
MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – The College of the Canyons swim and dive team capped off a strong 2014 season over the weekend with one swimmer and two divers competing at the California Community College Athletic Association Swim and Dive State Championship at East Los Angeles College.
Freshman Phillip Wong took sixth place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.26. Wong also competed in the 200-yard butterfly, but came in 17th place with a time of 2:01.34 in the preliminary race, which was not fast enough to make the cut for the finals.
Freshman Peighton Hall scored a 130.35 in the 1-meter dive, good for 16th place, and came in 12th place in the 3-meter dive with a score of 150.70. Freshman Luke Wesselhoff came in 18th place in the 3-meter dive after turning in a 154.75, while notching a 16th-place finish in the 1-meter dive after tallying a score of 172.30.
