Tim White Breaks School Record in Long Jump

CERRITOS, Calif. -The College of the Canyons track and field team came in first place in seven different events and broke a school record at the Five-Way Meet on Friday afternoon at Cerritos College.

Sophomore Tim White broke a school record in the long jump with a leap of 23'11.75", beating the previous record holder Ralph Butler, whom had posted a 23'9" jump in 2005.  White also came home with a first-place win in the triple jump with a 52'9.25" distance.

Grant Stromberg had another strong meet, coming in first place with a 15:25.55 time in the 5,000-meter run. Finishing off the men's top performers, was Cody Moore who threw 172'1" in javelin bringing home the honor of top performer as well.

On the women's team, Laurie Henigan came in first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.60 and Jasmine Hall sprinted to the top of the standings in the 200-meter dash in 25.0. In the 4x100-meter relay Jessica Gill, Jasmine Hall, Allison Perry and Laurie Henigan turned in the top time of the afternoon after tallying a 49.58.
