Men’s Track and Field Comes In First Place, Women in Fourth, at WSC Inland Meet
The College of the Canyons men’s and women’s track and field teams came in first and fourth place, respectively, at Friday’s WSC Inland Meet at Bakersfield College.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The College of the Canyons men's and women's track and field teams came in first and fourth place, respectively, at Friday's WSC Inland Meet at Bakersfield College.
The men's team collected 186 points to lead the five-team meet. West LA College finished in second with 160 points and Glendale came in third with 139 points. The women's team turned in 93 points for its fourth-place finish. Glendale won the event with 169 points by narrowly beating West LA College (162 points). Bakersfield College finished above COC with 105 points.
Distance runner Rodrigo Ornelas led the men's team after coming in first in the 3,000-meter and breaking a school record with his time of 8:49.96.
The men's team has six other first-place finishes, including a sweep of the relay events. Anthony Fowler won the 400-meter dash in 48.50 and Marvin Magg came out on top in the shot put with a throw of 12.20 meters. Tim White turned in top performances in the high jump (2.03 meters) and the long jump (6.83 meters).
The women had three top finishes on the afternoon. Jasmine Hall won the 400-meter dash in a time of 57.60 and the javelin, after hurling it 35.03 meters. Courtney Spaulding cleared 2.97 meters in the pole vault to win her event.
