Cougars Bounce Back with 3-0 Win at L.A. Pierce
Canyons (3-3) saw freshmen Lesly Cabrera and Alexandra Prezioso score their first goals of the season.

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — Freshmen Lesly Cabrera and Alexandra Prezioso netted their first goals of the season as College of the Canyons got back in the win column with a 3-0 road win vs. L.A. Pierce to snap a two-game losing streak.
Cabrera was able to get the Cougars on the board with for scoring strike in the 43rd minute. The goal came after an assist from Andrea Murrufo, her second of the season.
COC wasted little time before converting a second time, this time it was Araceli Castaneda who beat the keeper in the closing moments of the first half.
Canyons (3-3), which had previously lost to Moorpark and Chaffey in back-to-back outings, headed to halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
The Cougars were able to earn five corners and kept the pressure on with seven shots in the first half. Canyons ended with 15 shots in the game.
COC freshman goalkeeper Aaliyah Lopez (2-3) earned the win, and her second clean sheet of the season, with five saves to her credit. Lopez and the Cougars' backline combined to keep the Brahmas off the board throughout, Pierce unable to make much of its seven shots.
Prezioso added some insurance with her goal in the 87th minute which put the game at 3-0 for the Cougars. Gracell Magnaye got in on the action with her first assist of the season.
L.A. Pierce (3-5) had won its last two matches before hosting Canyons.
COC returns home on Friday, Sept. 27, to host Santa Barbara City College (3-4) in the final non-conference match of the season. First touch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Cougars then open Western State Conference (WSC), South Division play at home vs. Antelope Valley College at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1. The Marauders are the defending conference champs.
