Women's Soccer Sees Seven Earn All-WSC Honors
COC freshman Emily Perez joined sophomores Gracell Magnaye and Celia Franco as All-Western State Conference (WSC), South Division First Team selections.
College of the Canyons had seven players earn all-conference honors after a season in which the Cougars led the Western State Conference (WSC) in goals and qualified for the playoffs for a ninth consecutive year.
COC freshman midfielder Emily Perez and sophomore defenders Gracell Magnaye and Celia Franco were named All-Western State Conference (WSC), South Division First Team selections.
Perez finished the season with seven goals, including two game winners, and an assist, while serving as one the team's captains. Franco, who also served as a captain, scored three goals from her defensive position while Magnaye, also a First Team selection a season ago, recorded two assists.
Freshman forward Araceli Castaneda and was named to the All-WSC Second Team after a season in which she netted a team-high 14 goals and 29 points. Castaneda is joined by freshman goalkeeper Aaliyah Lopez who posted a record of 11-6-4 with a 1.17 goals against average across 21 starts.
Freshman midfielders Andrea Marrufo and Maggie Maldonado both earned All-WSC Honorable Mention selections.
Marrufo scored five goals and was credited with seven assists, while Maldonado finished near that same pace with five goals and six assists.

COC finished the regular season 12-5-4 overall with a record of 9-2-3 in conference play to finish third in the WSC, South.
The No. 17 seed Cougars ended its season with a loss to No. 16 Mt. San Antonio College by a 2-1 OT result in the play-in round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs.
