
Women's Tennis Falls 6-3 at Ventura College

VENTURA — College of the Canyons dropped a 6-3 conference road match at Ventura College on Thursday, with the Lady Cougars battling throughout several of the individual matchups
Canyons earned two points in doubles play with freshman Ellie Wingo earning the lone singles point.
Wingo also teamed with Jennifer Russell for an 8-1 doubles victory, improving their record as a duo to 10-3 on the year.
Elsewhere, Faith Abt and Marie Arana Llosa earned an 8-6 doubles win and now sit at 7-6 on the year. The team of Ashley Villarta and Lexi Paunovic played a tight match before eventually falling 8-5.
Arana Llosa went to three sets in her No. 5 singles loss, while Abt lost her opening set 6-7 and then came up short in a 4-6 final set score.
The loss for Canyons (5-8, 4-6) came two days after the Lady Cougars picked up a 7-2 home win vs. Santa Monica College. Ventura (4-4, 4-4) has won three of its last four matches. Both teams trail conference leader Bakersfield College (8-4, 7-2).
COC will play in its home finale vs. Antelope Valley College on Thursday, March 16, at the Cougar Courts.
