SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — The College of the Canyons volleyball team dropped a tough match 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-16) to Irvine Valley College on Friday, Sept. 5., dropping its record to 1-1 on the season.
The Cougars came out firing in the first two sets, outscoring the Lasers early in both contests before eventually surrendering the lead. Canyons registered double-digit kills in the first two games, with Serena LeDuff (14), Lauren Underwood (6) and Brooke Garelick (6) leading the attack.
Freshman Kaite Rutecki continued to play effectively, tallying 31 assists and bringing her season total to 74 through two contests.
Keirstyn Anderson and Angelica Gonzalez each totaled 13 digs.
Canyons will next travel to El Camino College on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
