BAKERSFIELD, Calif — The College of the Canyons volleyball team easily handled Bakersfield 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-20) to capture its ninth straight victory and strengthen its grasp on first place in the Western State Conference South division on Wednesday.
Leading the way for COC was freshman outside hitter Brooke Garelick, who finished with 15 points by way of a team-high 14 kills and 11 digs.
Joining Garelick were teammates Serena LeDuff who finished with nine kills and 16 digs and Kaitlyn Reiner who tallied six kills, four digs and three aces.
With the exception of its 3-2 win over Citrus on Oct. 8, Canyons has swept all of their opponents during the current nine-game winning streak.
As of Wednesday's game, Serena LeDuff leads the team with 218 kills, while Keirstyn Anderson's total of 227 digs is also a team-best.
COC (13-3 overall, 5-0 conference) will take its hot streak into its next contest at Antelope Valley on Friday.
