Canyons Win Streak Back at Five After 3-0 Sweep at Citrus

GLENDORA, Calif. — College of the Canyons had five players record at last five kills and freshman Kayla Tait added six aces to sweep host Citrus College 3-0. Set scores were 25-15, 25-15, 27-25. 

Tait's total stat line also included seven kills and 12 digs. Bree Kelley and Grace Ferguson tied for the team lead with nine kills. Kyra Titner had seven and Madison Martinez ended with five.

Canyons (14-7, 9-2) hit .349 for the match. Titner was 8-of-9 on her swings for a .889 percentage.

Ferguson added a pair of aces, as did Elizabeth Gannon. Gannon also finished with seven digs while Caitlin Lim checked in with seven.

Citrus (9-16, 6-5) put up a fight in the third set led by the play of Nia Nix and Summer Edington. Nix recorded a match-high 18 kills, while Edington followed up with 10.

COC had previously defeated Citrus by a 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-9) final score in its home match back on Oct. 29.

No. 25 state ranked Canyons is second in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division having won five straight, and 10 of its last 11 matches.

The Cougars close out the regular season at Santa Monica College on Friday, Nov. 8. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
