Cougars Knock Off Antelope Valley In First Round of Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament
The College of the Canyons men’s basketball team overcame a 17-point deficit in the first half to rally and beat host Antelope Valley College 79-74 in the first round of the Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament on Friday night.

LANCASTER, Calif. – The College of the Canyons men's basketball team overcame a 17-point deficit in the first half to rally and beat host Antelope Valley College 79-74 in the first round of the Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament on Friday night.
The Cougars outscored the Marauders 41-24 in the second half, after breaking into the AVC's lead 50-38 at the half. COC also held Antelope Valley to 24 percent from the field in the second half, after the Marauders shot the lights out in the first, making 61.3 percent from the field.
Freshman guard Clay Kasdorf led all scorers with 22 points in 21 minutes of work, and sophomore forward Ilya Ilyayev contributed 20 points and seven rebounds.
The Cougars will play in the semifinal game of the tournament tomorrow against Ventura College at 7 p.m.
