Cougars Get 100-90 Home Win vs. Santa Barbara

Sophomore guard Andrew Henderson scored a season-high 32 points as College of the Canyons defeated Santa Barbara City College 100-90 at the Cougar Cage on Wednesday.
Canyons (3-2) pushed its lead to 48-41 over the Vaqueros at the end of the first half with a Dillon Barrientos three-point shot at the buzzer.
The Cougars ended the half shooting 55 percent on 15-of-27 attempts. Henderson also led in scoring at the end of the half with eight points alongside Galgano and Barrientos with seven points, respectively.
The second half of play is where Henderson started to heat up, tallying 24 points paired with five rebounds. He shot 54 percent on 13-of-20 shooting and capitalized on 3-of-4 three-point attempts.
Barrientos and Jimmy Galgano finished the game combining for 27 points in addition to Barrientos moving the ball and finding his teammates for five assists.
Santa Barbra (1-3) capitalized on the Cougars' offensive miscues scoring 20 points off 13 COC turnovers. This led to the Vaqueros second half push nearly tying the game twice at 73-74 and once more at 77-78 with seven minutes remaining in the game.
Three of Santa Barbra's starters posted double-digit scoring lines with Jaelen Bates, Aiden Mandel, and Trevor Lee all scoring a combined 48 points.
The Cougars answered back with a 12-0 scoring run to retake the lead with two minutes remaining in the game.
This last offensive push from COC was vital for the Cougars as the Vaqueros could not answer back. Canyons finished the game dominating the paint with 44 inside points and its reserves provided 52 points off the bench, with Henderson leading the way.
Upcoming Schedule
The Cougars will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 19 at Chaffey College. That game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
COC then returns to the Cougar Cage at 5 p.m.Tuesday, Nov. 29 vs. Long Beach City College.
