Canyons Gets Past San Diego Mesa 90-82

College of the Canyons took a one-point lead into halftime, then continued that trend with an eventual 90-82 home win over San Diego Mesa College in the Cougar Cage on Saturday.
Canyons (4-4) was able to hand San Diego Mesa (4-5) its third straight defeat thanks to a strong second half in which the Cougars shot a combined 53.8 percent from the floor, led by a combined 23 points from Jimmy Galgano and Jonah El-Farra.
Galgano led the Cougars with a game-high 21 points on an 8-of-12 shooting performance. He also led all players with 10 rebounds.
Andrew Henderson finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Henderson was 3-of-6 from three-point land. Quincy Arms led the reserves with 15 points in his 16 minutes of action to go with four assists and three rebounds.
The Olympians received 20 points from both Jaiden Pate and Daron Traylor. Traylor also led his side with six rebounds while Pate came away with four steals. Quajon Young led the San Diego reserves with 14 points.
COC won the rebounding battle 43-32 but committed 23 turnovers to help keep the Olympians in the game.

Upcoming Schedule
Canyons will be out of action before hitting the road to face Cypress College at 5 p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 13 followed by another road contest vs. Rio Hondo College at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16.
COC then returns to the Cougar Cage to host West Hills Lemoore at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20. That game will be live streamed to fans free of charge on the Cougars Sports Network.
