The College of the Canyons men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw vs. West Hills Lemoore on Friday, in a game that saw lots of back-and-forth action despite what the final score shows.
The Cougars (2-5-1) hosted West Hills (2-5-2) in a home match that was played at The Master's University soccer complex.
Canyons entered the contest having won two of the last four games and looking to build on that momentum, but were unable to come up with a goal in a hotly contested defensive affair.
West Hills edged Canyons in the shot department by an 11-10 margin, with three of those strikes finding their way to COC goalkeeper Cristian Arriaga (2-5-1). Arriaga was credited with three saves in the shutout.
Eagles goalkeeper Chris Lopez was forced to make six saves in keeping the Cougars off the board.
Canyons will next host Santa Barbara City College (5-3) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Cougar Stadium. In 2015, the Cougars and Gauchos played to a draw in both of their matchups.
