Canyons Softball Hits Road for 11-0 Win at LAVC

VALLEY GLEN — College of the Canyons picked up its third conference win in commanding fashion with an 11-0 road win at L.A. Valley College on Tuesday, in a game that had to be relocated due to inclement weather the day prior.
The quick location change didn't have an effect on Canyons (16-8-1, 3-2), as the flexibility led to the 11-run outburst, with freshman Allyson Melgar responsible for seven of those runs.
Samantha Flores (7-4) dominated the game from the circle allowing only one hit and three walks while recording three strike outs.
Three different Cougars produced home runs, the first from Lisa Motz to open the ballgame. The second came the following inning from Memorie Muñoz, her first of the season.
Melgar was active throughout the ball game, bringing in five RBIs and scoring two runs herself, while smacking her third home run of the season.
Alyssa Silva found her way across home plate three times and Julia Fuentes scored twice.
Overall, seven different Cougars found their way around the bases
