Buck and Osorio Moving on to State Championship Meet

SAN DIEGO — College of the Canyons is sending two representatives to the CCCAA Track & Field State Championship meet after seeing sophomores Milca Osorio and Layne Buck combine to qualify for the state finals in three events.
On the women's side it will be Osorio headed to the state championships for the second time in as many years.
The sophomore from Canyon High School will once again be running in the 10,000m event after clocking a time of 39:57.03 to finish seventh in the field of 18 runners. At the 2022 state meet Osorio placed fifth in the 10,000m at 38:58.91 to rank third in the program's all-time rankings for the event.
COC sophomore Layne Buck will represent the Cougars in both the long jump and triple jump events at the state championships.
Buck recorded a mark of 6.98m/22' 11" in the long jump to finish fourth at the SoCal Championships and advance to the state meet. Earlier in the year he won his second straight Western State Conference (WSC) title in the same event.
The Burbank High School graduate also took sixth in the triple jump at an even 14.00m/45' 11.25" to once again move on to compete at the state championships.
The 2023 Track & Field State Championships will take place May 19-20 at Modesto Junior College.
