COC Finishes In Seventh Place at South Coast Tournament; Second at Conference Tournament
The College of the Canyons women's golf team turned in a 693 (346-347), good for a 7th place finish at the two-day South Coast Tournament at Buena Ventura GC and Olivas Links GC.
VENTURA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons women's golf team turned in a 693 (346-347), good for a 7th place finish at the two-day South Coast Tournament at Buena Ventura Golf Course and Olivas Links Golf Course. COC played short-handed on the first day with only four players, while the second day acted as the Cougars first conference tournament of the year.
In day one, four Cougars garnered a 346 at Buena Ventura Golf Course. COC was led by freshman Andrea Webster who tallied an 80, followed by Chelsea Reed's 85. Kaylie Sadlon and Madison Lomas rounded out the scoring with an 89 and a 92, respectively.
On day two, the Cougars traveled to Olivas Links for the second round of the South Coast Tournament and the first Western State Conference tournament, where the team finished in second place. Canyons saw Webster lead the Cougars again with an 82, to round out her tournament score of 162 and helped her finish in a tie for fifth place in the conference tournament. Freshman Kathy Quock, who did not compete in day one, came in second on day two with her 86 to complete the conference tourney in a tie for ninth. Sadlon carded an 89 in round two for a total of 178. Reed finished COC's scoring with a 90 and a 175 in the South Coast Tournament.
The Cougars will return to action on Monday, Sept. 16 as they host their conference tournament at Simi Hills Golf Course.
