The College of the Canyons women's soccer team defeated conference rival Bakersfield College for the second time this season after executing a decisive 8-0 home victory on Tuesday.
To put it mildly, COC has assembled an intimidating goal differential this season. With the blowout over Bakersfield, the Cougars have now scored 45 goals while allowing just five.
On Tuesday, it took one half for Canyons forward Marissa Kneisel to complete the hat trick. The explosive scorer opened up scoring in the third minute, before bookending the first half with goals in the 43rd and 45th minute to give COC a decisive 4-0 lead at halftime.
Kneisl has been a lightning rod for the Cougars thus far, scoring 16 goals to go along with 10 assists this season.
Also scoring in the first half was Cougars midfielder Natalie Mitchell, who would later go on to add another goal late in the second half.
Rounding out the scoring for COC were Yevenia Avilez, Jennifer Brown, and Kristen Fowble. Fowble also added an assist on Brown's goal in the 83rd minute.
