The College of the Canyons women's volleyball team dropped its first match of the season, losing to El Camino College in its final match of the Cerritos Invitational Tourney held Sept. 11-12.
Canyons (7-1) dropped the match 1-3 (13-25, 13-25, 25-18, 19-25) in falling to an El Camino (9-1) squad it had previously beaten this season.
The Cougars were led offensively by sophomore middle hitter Erica Magee who contributed a team-high 11 kills and .412 hitting percentage.
COC sophomore outside hitter Brooke Garelick added 10 kills of her own to go along with 10 digs.
Freshman Emily Bible led the team with 19 digs, while sophomore setter Katie Rutecki led the Cougars with 24 assists.
Canyons will return to action at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, when the Cougars travel to face undefeated Riverside City College (4-0).
