By Jesse Muñoz/COC Sports Information Director

GLENDALE — No. 21 College of the Canyons served up 14 aces while Kaelyn White and Brianna Botello both reached double-digit kill totals, as the Cougars collected a 3-0 conference victory over host Glendale College on Friday night. Set scores were 25-11, 32-30, 25-17.

Canyons (10-7, 4-0) has now won its last five matches dating back to Sept. 23, while not dropping a single set during that span. Glendale (3-13, 1-3) has lost its last three times out.

The Vaqueros forced the Cougars into a prolonged second set that required 32 points from Canyons, but weren't able to maintain that pace down the stretch.

Sophomore Abby Sherman tallied six aces in the match to lead COC in that category. White and Ally Grodell both chipped in with three apiece and Isabella Embleton added two more of her own.

White's 13 kills led the squad followed by Botello's 12 with the two big swingers hitting .500 and .524, respectively.

Grodell ended the night with nine kills and three blocked shots while Jordan Nunez helped pace the offense with 32 assists to go with five kills and five digs. Aubrey Audish was impressive defensively with 17 digs.

The five consecutive victories mark the longest win streak of the season for Canyons. The Cougars have nine regular season matches remaining on the schedule, eight of which will come against Western State Conference (WSC), South Division opponents.
