No. 7 Canyons (18-9) fell in five sets to No. 10 San Diego Mesa College at the Cougar Cage.

Ferguson finished the regular season with a .466 hitting percentage and 125 total blocks to lead the state in both categories.

No. 7 Canyons (18-8) will host No. 10 San Diego Mesa (16-12) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 in the Cougar Cage.

COC (14-6, 3-1) suffered the loss despite 18 kills and 19 digs from Shayla Johnson and 17 kills from Rachel Caruthers.

The freshman middle blocker finished the week with 17 kills, 11 aces and seven blocks in helping Canyons to a pair of week seven victories.

COC sophomore outside hitter Shayla Johnson led the way with 15 kills and six digs, while freshman middle blocker Grace Ferguson chipped in 11 kills on a .733 hitting percentage.

Canyons (7-5) was led by sophomore Shayla Johnson's 15 kills and 16 digs. As a team the Cougars fires 10 aces and committed just two hitting errors.

Canyons (5-4) has jumped to No. 9 in the CCCWVCA statewide rankings after being unranked a week ago.

Canyons (4-3) was led by sophomore Shayla Johnson's team-high nine kills in the straight set victory.

The Cougars will next compete at the San Diego Mesa Invitational Sept. 7-8.

Canyons (2-0) was able to put Santa Monica (0-2) away thanks in large part to 16 aces.

Canyons will host Glendale College at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 in the 2018 season opener.
