College of the Canyons vs Grossmont College

VENTURA, Calif. - Marcel Marquez threw four touchdown passes to four different receivers and added 45 rushing yards in leading College of the Canyons to a 56-27 over Ventura College. The Cougars came out flat and spotted the Pirates a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but went on to score 35 unanswered points over the second and third quarters to take command of the game.

Linebacker Joey La Rocque had an outstanding game on defense, racking up 11 tackles, three sacks and one interception. Ja'Vonte Holmes also looked sharp, totalling 5 tackles and returning a punt 71 yards for a score in the second quarter.

Sean Edwards busted free on a 72-yard run down the sideline to give the Cougars their first lead in the game in the second quarter, and Marquez hit receivers Chad Garrett, Shane Morales, Terence Scott and Pat McCann on touchdown passes of 33, 30, 18 and 46 yards, respectively.
