David Banks begins his 11th season as a member of the Cougar football coaching staff, having originally joined the program in 2008. He is responsible for coaching the team’s wide receivers.
Prior to joining the Cougars, Banks was the wide receivers coach at East Los Angeles College from 2006 to 2008.
Banks currently works as a behavior specialist at a school for students with behavior and emotional disorders. For the past five years, David has also volunteered his time to coach with the Los Angeles Police Department as the offensive coordinator for the L.A. Centurions.
Before entering the coaching ranks, Banks played football for New Boston High School in Texas, where he earned First Team All-District honors as a receiver and defensive back.
After high school, Banks continued his playing career at West Los Angeles College and later transferred to Iowa State University. Banks starred as a member of the Cyclones from 2001 to 2004, receiving All-Big 12 honors as a kick returner and earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology in the process.
When not watching or coaching football, Banks loves being active with his soon-to-be wife, Gaby, and their family, and friends.
