Home team Wildcats Claw Visiting Cougars 65-60
The College of the Canyons men's basketball team suffered its third loss in conference play, as the Cougars fell 65-60 to host West L.A. College on Wednesday night.
Canyons (10-8, 2-3) was in the ballgame the entire night, trailing by just three points at halftime before eventually succumbing to the Wildcats.
Statistically, the Cougars had the better offensive night, shooting 44 percent from the field, 39 percent from behind the arc and nearly 89 percent from the line to outpace West L.A. in all three categories.
However COC was out-rebounded 37-23, which proved to be a factor in the game's final result.
Sophomore forward Tullio Parry had 10 rebounds and 14 rebounds in the game, leading COC in both categories.
Guard Coley Apsay finished the night with 13 points and seven assists, well fellow guard Victor Nwaba posted a stat line of 12 points and five rebounds.
Canyons is currently in a four-way tie for third place in the Western State Conference (WSC), South division.
COC will next host Bakersfield College at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Cougar Cage.
