The COC men's basketball team earned a much-needed Western State Conference (WSC) victory on Wednesday, as the Cougars defeated Santa Monica 83-73.
COC was led by forward Tullio Parry's 23 points and 10 rebounds.
In fact, the Cougars had a total of four players score in double digits, with Ricardo Greaves (15 points), Coley Apsay (14 points) and Chance Cole (15 points) each turning in strong performances.
Canyons led by just three points at half time. However, the Cougars shot a blistering 53.6 percent from the floor in the second half — and 85.7 percent from the foul line — to extend the lead.
Parry and Cole were both particularily efficient down the stretch scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively, in the second half.
COC guard Brodric Smith also scored seven points off the bench to help maintain the Cougar lead.
Canyons enters the weekend with a 12-10 overall record and 4-5 mark in conference play, placing them in a four-way tie for the Western State Conference, South division's third place spot.
COC will next travel to L.A. Valley for a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday, Feb. 7.
