Cougars post a first and second-place finishes at WSC Finals, Win Conference Championship With Record
The College of the Canyons men’s golf team closed out the regular season on Monday afternoon at Soule Park Golf Course for the 36-hole Western State Conference Championship tournament.
OJAI, Calif. - The College of the Canyons men's golf team closed out the regular season on Monday afternoon at Soule Park Golf Course for the 36-hole Western State Conference Championship tournament.
Canyons carded a 369 in the first round, for second place and a 358 in the second round, good for first place. Despite coming in second place in the first round, COC still won the conference title with its 59-1 conference record, marking the program's 19th WSC title.
First-year golfer Sydney Wolf completed the regular season with the best stroke average in the conference with his 72.2 strokes per tournament. Canyons had five players who finished in the top-10 stroke averages, with the sixth player coming in 11th best.
The Cougars now set their eyes on the Southern California Championship on May 6 at the Costa Mesa Country Club. The top two teams will advance to the state championship at Rancho Canada Golf Club on May 13 to compete against the top-two teams from Northern California.
