COC Men’s Golf Wins Again in WSC Tourney No. 2
Freshman Matt Murray’s score of 73 ties for second best on the day.
The COC men's golf team won its second Western State Conference (WSC) tournament of the season on Monday, with the Cougars carding a team score of 374 to best the mark of 377 turned in by tourney host Santa Barbara City College.
Playing at Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Solvang, CA, the Cougars were led by freshman Matt Murray's score of 73 — which tied for second best on the day.
Glendale College would take the tourney's third place slot with a score of 391, barely edging out fourth place finisher Citrus College at 393. Fifth-place team Allan Hancock College finished at 400.
The field also included golfers from Bakersfield, Ventura and Antelope Valley College.
COC sophomore Eric Kim concluded the day at 74 and freshman Hamish Houston turned in a score of 75.
Rounding out the Cougar top five were Noa Yap and Noah Bernstein who each scored a 76.
All five COC golfers finished in the top-10 among the field of 48.
Canyons will next tee off in WSC Tournament No. 3 hosted by Bakersfield College on Monday, Feb. 23, at Rio Bravo Country Club.
