Canyons Takes WSC Tourney No. 4 at River Ridge
Freshman Travis Fay tied for tourney top spot with a score of 68 and Will Barnett takes third place with a mark of 69.
The College of the Canyons men's golf team finished in first place at Western State Conference (WSC) No. 4 hosted by Ventura College at River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard.
The conference leading Cougars have now taken first place in three of four WSC tournaments this season.
Canyons carded a five-man score of 364 to finish 12 strokes ahead of second place Santa Barbara City College (376).
Ventura (379) finished in third place followed by Citrus College (387) and Glendale (395) to round out the top-five.
Individually, freshman Travis Fay finished tied for the tournament's top spot with a score of 68. That mark equaled the score turned in by Manny Manzone of SBCC.
COC freshman Will Barnett finished one stroke behind Fay with a score of 69 to take home a third place individual finish.
Canyons freshman Jaeyeol Kim finished tied for fifth with a score of 72.
Matt Cheng (77) and Jason McGuinness (78) rounded out the COC top-five. David Ennels had his score of 79 scratched.
Canyons will next compete in the CCCAA State Preview being held Monday, March 14, at Desert Island Golf and Country Club in Rancho Mirage.
