Cougars Drop 3-1 Decision to El Camino-Compton Center in Season and Home Opener

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The College of the Canyon men's soccer team was outshot 12-1 in the second half of the Cougar's season and home opener on Tuesday afternoon and lost 3-1 to visiting El Camino-Compton Center at COC's Upper Field.
El Camino scored first in the match. In the 22nd minute kicked the ball to the upper left corner, past COC's goalie Steven Rodriquez.
The Cougars had a chance to score in the first half, including a penalty kick in the 26th minute that was blocked by El Camino-Compton's goalie Manuel Leon.
Canyons turned in its lone score in the 44th minute after a cross from Abraham Garcia that Tony Barron slipped past Leon in the lower right corner.
Headed into the second half knotted up at 1-1, COC held off El Camnino-Compton's onslaught of shots, including two saves for Rodriquez. The tie was broken late in the game when the visitors scored two goals in the span of two minutes and went up 3-1 to end the game.
College of the Canyons was outshot 16-6 by El Camino-Compton. Rodriquez had two saves in 90 minutes of work.
The Cougars (0-1) will remain home as they host Chaffey College on Friday, Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. on the Upper Field.
