SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A late-second-half goal by COC's Philip Boscacci salvaged a 1-1 tie for the No. 9 ranked Cougars against Santa Barbara City College on Friday afternoon.
Both teams had their chances to take an early lead in the first half. COC goalkeeper Steven Rodriguez was forced into action in the second minute saving a Mehdi Badache shot. That would be the only save for Rodriguez in the game.
The Cougars eventually trailed in the 35th minute after a goal by Erik Winnberg made it past Rodriguez. The Cougars entered the half down 1-0.
In the 71st minute, however, COC sophomore forward Philip Boscacci scored his third goal of the season and tied the match at 1-1. Forward Oscar Sanchez assisted on the goal.
Santa Barbara outshot the Cougars 7-5 for the game, and both teams earned two corner kicks apiece.
The draw brings COC's record to 7-2-5 overall and to 5-1-5 against conference opponents.
The Cougars next play host to Moorpark College at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
