No. 10 Canyons Splits Doubleheader at Santa Barbara

The No. 10 College of the Canyons softball team split a Friday doubleheader with Santa Barbara City College, as the Cougars ended things on a high note by earning a 3-0 victory in the second game.
Canyons (6-3) lost the opener 6-0, getting blanked for just the second time this season. Sophomore pitcher Alexis Ramirez (4-1) took the loss after SBCC scored six runs, two earned, on the right-hander.
In the second game sophomore pitcher Ashley Russo (2-2) helped the Cougars get back on track by pitching a seven-inning, three-hit shutout to win 3-0.
Shortstop Cheyenne Steward went 2-for-4 with a home run, while Kiana Holder and Sarah Wilson both recorded RBIs to help turn the tables on the Vaqueros.

Canyons will next host Cerritos College for a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 27.
