Canyons Swim & Dive Wraps Season at WSC Championships

VENTURA — College of the Canyons swim & dive competed at the Western State Conference (WSC) Championships hosted by Ventura College, with the Cougars logging a number of standout individual performances over the three-day meet that ran April 18-20.
The Canyons men's team (193) placed seventh and the women's team (121) was 10th in the team standings.
Elsewhere on the men's side it was Cuesta College (879) winning the team conference championship ahead of host Ventura (586), Bakersfield College (419) and LA Valley College (418) across the top four spots.
In women's competition it was Santa Barbara City College (854) claiming the WSC women's team title ahead of LA Valley (550), Santa Monica College (380) and Ventura (375).
COC freshman Diego Rozbruch (34) and sophomore Keanu Pence (27) combined to give COC the majority of its individual event points.
Rozbruch had a trio of top-10 results highlighted by his sixth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (55.49). He also finished 10th in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.37) and 100-yard freestyle (49.26).
Pence turned in the top result for the Cougars by taking fifth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:18.78). He also ended ninth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.30).
Jakob Glasshoff made his mark on the meet with a sixth-place result in the 400-yard Individual Medley (5:19.37).
Other individual results for the Cougars' men's team included Max Brown swimming 11th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.91), Declan Sheridan placing 13th in the 100-yard freestyle (54.16) and Nicholas Jeffries taking 14th in the 200-yard butterfly (3:16.59).
COC's men's team also earned points in a variety of relay events. The 400-yard medley team of Brown, Glasshoff, Pence and Rozbruch combined for a time of 4:10.73 to finish sixth. Later, the combination of Glasshoff, Rainbird, Sheridan and Rozbruch were clocked at 1:38.18 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, good for sixth.
COC also took seventh in both the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:42.99/Glasshoff, Rainbird, Sheridan, Rozbruch) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:52.81/Brown, Sheridan, Pence, Rozbruch).
The Lady Cougars earned the majority of its points in relay events, combining for four top-10 finishes. The highlight came in the 400-yard medley with Olivia Miles, Stella Vigdorchik, Mia Paras and Karen Robles taking seventh at 5:00.83.
COC took eighth in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:08.37/Paras, Vigdorchik, Robles, Miles) and 400-yard freestyle (4:55.88/Paras, Vigdorchik. Robles, Miles). The final relay points came with a ninth-place time of 2:32.70 in the 200-yard medley relay turned in by the combination of Miles, Vigdorchik, Paras and Robles
Individually, Nicole Lerma earned points with her eighth-place score of 105.3 earned in the 1m diving competition.
Miles scored by taking 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:25.44), 13th in the 50-yard freestyle (29.86) and 15th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.77).
Paras' best individual result came in the 100-yard breaststroke (15th/1:36.74). Same for Vigdorchik who came in 13th at 1:30.91 in the same event.
