Cougars Defeat Cypress In Season Home Opener
The College of the Canyons women's basketball team (4-3) won its season home opener with a 78-62 victory over the Cypress Chargers (7-4) on Wednesday evening in the Cougar Cage.
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons women's basketball team (4-3) won its season home opener with a 78-62 victory over the Cypress Chargers (7-4) on Wednesday evening in the Cougar Cage.
The Cougars were led in scoring by sophomore Jazzmyn Davis with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Angelica Sahagun also contributed a double-double with 19 points and a game high 20 rebounds.
COC led 36-33 at the half and used a 16-7 run in the first six minutes of the second half to pull away from the Chargers.
Both teams didn't shoot well in the contest, including the Cougars who shot 36 percent from the field, to Cypress' 30.5 percent.
The Cougars will return to action on Friday, Dec. 9 as they travel to the three-day Rose City Classic at Pasadena City College.
