Canyons Takes Down Santa Monica 85-74
Amber Evans pulls down 19 boards and scores 14 points
VENTURA, Calif. — The College of the Canyons women's basketball team defeated Santa Monica College 85-74 in the Ventura-Kiwanis Tournament on Sunday.
Jordan Oster provided a spark off the bench, leading the team in scoring with 16 points and adding two steals. Five other Cougars scored in double-figures on the way to the victory.
Three Cougars also tallied double-doubles in points and rebounds. Amber Evans impressed with a team-leading 19 rebounds to go along with 14 points and three steals.
Sophomore Nayiri Aslanian added 11 points, 14 rebounds and two assists.
The victory improves COC's record to 4-2 overall on the young season. In addition, the win was COC head coach Greg Herrick's 499th career victory at the college.
The Cougars next play in the Moorpark College Classic Tournament where they take on LA Trade-Tech in their opening game Friday, Dec. 12.
